Natural nails Reading Covergel: Differences and Application 5 minutes Next Primer: Application and Benefits

There are many different types of nail gel. This article focuses on makeup gel and its application. emmi®NAIL cover gels are incredibly easy to apply and reliably conceal imperfections and discolorations on the nail.

What is Covergel?

Covergel is a light-curing gel made of liquid plastic that hardens under a UV lamp. It covers spots that would otherwise show through under a clear builder gel . Such minor imperfections can be caused by nail discoloration caused by nicotine or simply natural growth ridges. Sometimes, however, the cause is also a nail fungus, so a trained eye is needed to refer the client to a dermatologist if necessary.

The emmi®NAIL Make-Up Gel provides excellent coverage and is therefore often used to visually lengthen the nail bed. To do this, first extend the nail with a tip or stencil and then apply the cover gel to the desired length. This can even be as long as the fingertip.

This approach is especially popular with stiletto nails . Thanks to the various viscosities, our gels always have the perfect gel for your application. For the stencil technique, we recommend the stable, medium-viscosity consistency .

Our makeup gels are available in a wide range of shades . This ensures that you have the right shade for every client. Depending on your skin tone, you can then perfectly adjust the cover gel to achieve the most natural-looking tint.

For sensitive customers, emmi®NAIL naturally offers cover gels with and without acid . Some customers are allergic to the acid contained in the gel or have naturally good adhesion between the gel and the nail and therefore require acid-free gels.

How do I apply the cover gel?

Covergel is best applied with a size 4 gel brush or a full cover brush.

  1. First, the nail is prepared as usual, the cuticle is gently removed, the nail is shortened and lightly roughened.
  2. Then, if necessary, apply the primer as an adhesion promoter and then you can work directly with a 1-phase cover gel.
  3. If you want to build up the fingernail at the same time as the cover gel, first take a base gel as needed, harden it and then model it with the corresponding base gel.

For a stable extension, for example with stilettos, you can also work with a primer, builder and then cover gel.

What is the advantage of acrylic gel as a cover gel?

The emmi®NAIL acrylic gel is flexible and stable . It is therefore particularly suitable for special nail extensions such as stiletto or edge nails. Acrylic gel is extremely stable and is applied to the nail using a special technique.

  1. First, take a small amount from the gel pot using a metal spatula.
  2. Then dip the gel brush in cleaner and wipe it on a tissue.
  3. The brush must always be wet, otherwise the gel will stick to the bristles. Now you can begin modeling.

Thanks to its special bonding properties, our acrylic gel is perfect for pinching . Pinching involves shaping the nail into a steep C-curve using a pinch clamp. The edges of the nail are pressed together, and the nail is then briefly cured. The pinch clamp is then removed, and the gel is completely cured. Our acrylic gel impresses with its perfect bonding and long processing time. It's easy to file, has little odor, and is acid-free . Ideal for professionals and beginners alike.

What are stiletto nails?

Stiletto nails owe their name to the shoe of the same name. With their narrow pencil heel, these high heels command attention. The same applies to stiletto nails. Nails filed into stilettos are pointed like a typical high heel. Their long, tapered shape makes them the epitome of femininity.

The great thing about this nail shape: Stilettos make fingers appear longer thanks to their long shape. Stiletto nails are therefore especially suitable for women who have been blessed with wider natural nails and shorter fingers. This allows plenty of room to file the nails to a perfect point along their entire length during a manicure.
